Hotel near Manchester/Vernon area and I-84?

I would appreciate any advice, please.

My friend and her elderly parents are considering stop for the night in the Hartford, CT area (perhaps Manchester or Vernon?) on their way up and back to Maine in early August. Thus, they would be staying there twice during a trip on I-84. Naturally, they want a clean, safe, pleasant hotel that is also affordable (about $100 or less). They would also want advice about a non-spicy food, moderate-priced (entrees less than $20) restaurant near the hotel.

After searching the Internet, I am considering recommending the Fairfield Inn (Marriott) on Pavilions Dr., Manchester. Online info says it was built in 2000. Info says there%26#39;s an Olive Garden restaurant nearby. Other restaurants mentioned are Hops (a brew pub) and Al Fresco%26#39;s in East Hartford. 2nd Hotel Choice is the Holiday Inn Express in Vernon, CT. Oddly enough, it seems to be a little more expensive, but not as nice as the Fairfield Inn: Holiday Inn Express, Vernon, CT. Hartford-Vernon - 346 Kelly Rd, Vernon, Ct 06066 I am having trouble finding restaurants to suggest for an affordable dinner near the Vernon Holiday Inn Express. Perhaps you can recommend some affordable restaurant near there. Someone said that Rein%26#39;s Deli is a good spot, but maybe its just deli fare. The 3rd Hotel Choice is more expensive: Courtyard by Marriott Manchester Hotel. 225 Slater St, Manchester.

Please tell me what you have heard or know about these places. Thank you very much.

Hi there,

We stop in that area frequently on our way to Boston from northern VA. I would choose the Fairfield Inn over the Holiday Inn Express. It is newer and would be less noisy than the HI, which is on a major thoroughfare.

Rains is a fun place to eat - a NY style deli in the heart of CT. They might try it for breakfast. There is a very good Italian restaurant in Vernon -- in a strip mall off Kelly Road -- called Angellino%26#39;s. Entrees are huge -- they could probably split a plate.

Make sure to book as soon as possible, if UCONN is back in session, the hotels are sure to fill up with parents dropping off their college students -- and there aren%26#39;t many options in that area.
