We are five small to medium size families (all siblings) who usually get together during Christmas week for a meal and present exchange together. Usually, we go to a restaurant, but we%26#39;ve been entertaining the idea of going somewhere overnight so we can spend some more time together instead of a few hours since each family is coming from a different direction within NY state. Any suggestions for a resort where there are activities for all ages? We are trying to stick within a 3 hour drive from NYC. I will post this message in the NJ and NY forums too. It%26#39;s the activities that are a problem--we have young teens and young adults in the group--no little kids anymore. Thanks for any help.
Help needed for multi-family Christmas week getaway
Since no one has offered, I thought I would at least get the ball rolling. In Ct you may want to check out the Waters Edge. Its about 100 miles from New York City: http://www.watersedge-resort.com. I have never stayed there, but friends had a good time in the early fall. You may want to expand your search into VT. I would recommend the Woodstock Inn. www.woodstockinn.com. Check out their website. YOu didn%26#39;t mention a budget, but neither of these are inexpensive, and at that time of year, yikes! I have planned a multi family event and it can get very tricky. Another great family spot is Woodloch Pines in the Poconos, about 2.5 hours from NYC. They do a great job of activites for groups of all ages, all seasons. www.woodloch.com. I would a post back if you decide to go somewhere, with a trip report after!
