Work is taking me to York Correctional Institution

I will be traveling to YCI from Miami for work and will likely be making two trips to the jail. As nonstop flights into CT are limited, I am thinking of flying into JFK, La Guardia or Newark and driving to Niantic. Any suggestions regarding the easiest route and comfortable, clean, safe hotels within 15 miles or so of the jail?

No suggestions are far as the hotel, but you might want to look at flying into Providence or Boston - You would be closer to Niantic than flying into NY or NJ.

Boston to Niantic is not close, Providence isn%26#39;t either. You really should look at Bradley (Connecticut%26#39;s main airport, near Hartford), even with a stop on the way. It will be the easiest drive.

Do fly into TF Green airport in Providence, RI. It is your best bet.

The second choice would be Bradley in Hartford, CT.

NY %26amp; Boston are really just too far to have to drive after flying (IMHO) IF you don%26#39;t have to and have other options (which you most likely will)

You will need to connect somewhere, but if you look at the fly %26amp; drive times- you can do it With a connection and still be ahead of the game. :)

Look into Spirit- they are pretty low cost and go non-stop into Providence from Ft. Lauderdale.

Sorry, not too sure about hotels in Niantic near the jail, but we have stayed in Mystic at the Marriott and it was very nice. Just in case you don%26#39;t find anything else!

...I realize that you are in Miami not Ft. Lauderdale, but assume that you could grab a quick connection from MIA to FLL. (or even make the drive) :)

Actually, BobbyC - Providence to Niantic is about 1 hour, Boston to Niantic about 2 hours, NYC to Niantic is about 2 1/2 hours, Newark even further - plus, you sit in the log jam of I-95 traffic, depending on the time you are trying to drive.

While I agree that Bradley is the easiest, Providence is probably the best bet.

Hi, Places to stay in the area... there are many depend on your budget. In Niantic (East Lyme) there are several hotels at Exit 74 off the interstate. Closer to YCI is the Rocky Neck Motel, litterally 3 mins from YCI. Downtown in Niantic is 14 Lincoln Street B%26amp;B), Inn at Harbor Hill and the Niantic Inn (downtown).

Old Lyme offers several places that are def. nice B%26amp;Bs from the Peck Tavern, Old Lyme Inn and Bee %26amp; Thistle.

Further afield there are hotels along the 95 corridor in Waterford and New London as well.
