You can rent a car, get a shuttle service (CT Limo or Red Dot are typically the easiest), or take the Subway to Grand Central Station or 125th Street and catch Metro North to Stamford.

By car is best, either rental, shared ride or private car depending on how many of you will be traveling.

A rental will cost you somewhere around $100 including gas and tolls. You would probably have to contend with some heavy traffic for much of the ride, so plan on it taking 1.5- 2 hours.

There are a number of shared ride options including Red Dot, Prime Time and Connecticut Limo. All three have websites and you would need to reserve in advance.

A private car would be about $150, so if there are 3 or more of you, that would make sense financially. Not to mention being able to go door to door, getting help with your luggage etc. You would want to reserve something in advance and be sure to avoid anyone who solicits you for a ';taxi'; or ';limo'; ride when you are leaving the terminal.

You could also take a bus into Manhattan and then take Metro North to Stamford station. This is probably the least expensive option, but will likely take you 2.5 to 3 hours. The ';train to the plane';, which you may see as an option on the Port Authority website, doesn%26#39;t really work for us in Connecticut. Too many connections, especially if you have any luggage.

Hope this helps.
