Help to fill missing gap in NE itinerary please?

I would appreciate some last minute advice to fill the last gap in our itinerary during our tour of New England we have booked all but one night and can’t decide on town let alone lodging for the missing night on the 18th October.

So far we have the following booked,

13-15 Nine Zero Boston

16th The White House Inn Wilmington

17th Brook Farm Inn Lenox

18 ???????

19th Mermaid Inn of Mystic

20th Jury’s Boston

21st Home :-(

As you will see the 18th is the problem date, we have been thinking of The Boulders IN New Preston however it receives very mixed reviews here on Trip advisor.

We would therefore appreciate any suggestions of pleasant towns and lodging. We are primarily there for the foliage and have moved our route further south in an attempt to catch the peak on at least one day.

If you have any other comments or tips about the rest of the itinerary these would also be welcome.

Many thanks

Have you checked out the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge Mass? Great little town and the Norman Rockwell museum is there.

And the Red Lion has a great little pub downstairs!

Or the White Hart Inn in Salisbury CT.

You should visit Essex, CT and take a riverboat up the Connecticut River to see the leaves. Essex is the quintesssential New England Town.

Or better yet, take the steam train to the boat and back. What an excellent day! A lovely dinner at the inn in Essex!

Excellent idea.

If antiques is your thing, go to Woodbury Ct, known as the antique capital of New England. The town is historic and quaint. Woodbury Pewter is also there and you can see it being made. Plenty of nice restaurants, my favorite and most romantic is the Longwood Country Inn. They also have beautiful rooms to spend the night in.
