Hi,
My friend and I are dropping our daughters at college and are taking a 2-3 day ';get distracted'; type trip. She is coming up from the south, me from the north to meet in Connecticut. We have already met in Mystic and Newport, so we wanted to do something new. We are both 51, but in good shape. We like to hike around 2-3 miles, see things (not houses), shop etc. but want to be away from a big city. Anyone have any advice for how to have fun or where to go in Connecticut? Someplace with local sights? B%26amp;B?
Thanks!
Where to go?
hi- the Old Lyme, New London area might appeal to you. The sub base and the florence Griswold museum are worth seeing. Also, East Haddam and Essex are terrific destinations. In East Haddam the Goodspeed opera house always has a fun 1920 - 1940 musical presentation. Google all of the above and take a look. Have fun.

Thank you! I was considering Haddam because of Gillette%26#39;s castle. I will check out the Opera house and the places you mentioned. Thank you for replying!

How about Block Island, Nantucket, or the Vineyard?
The CT Wine trail can be nice too, depending on time of year.
