Labor day weekend in Litchfield Hills? Ideas

My husband and I (and our 5 month old daughter) live in NJ and are looking for a nice destination for Labor Day weekend. I came accross the Litchfield Hills area in a guide book a while ago. Could someone please suggest a few things we could do and places we could stay in the area? We would love to do some hiking maybe other sports ....

My knowledge of the are is so limitted that any kind of suggestion would be welcome.

The Goshen fair is on labor day weekend always a nice family event. The hike up to the tower in Mt Tom SP is nice also a nice lake for swimming. Kent Falls SP has a very pretty waterfall.

Over night accudations tend to be expensive country in type of places not really places that welcome kids. Camping in one of the state parks is a great idea or you could look into one of the many chain motels in the Danbuary area.
