Looking for a place to visit in November

My boyfriend and I want to take a mini vacation over the Thanksgiving Holiday and we have decided to visit Connecticut. We are looking for an area with history but one that also has things to do. A lot of the places I have found look like they have plenty of Summer/Spring activities but don%26#39;t mention much about the Fall/Winter. I have become overwhelmed with the options and now don%26#39;t know where to begin. I know this is a little vague but if someone could recommend a nice town to visit in the colder months. I have never been north of NYC so I am completely unsure of where to go and I just don%26#39;t want to end up in a run down B%26amp;B in the middle of no where all because I wanted a little history.

Thanks in advance!!!

I think you should visit Woodbury, CT. for your stay. There are some charming, romantic bed and breakfast places, and it%26#39;s a very nice, quiet, quaint town. I went to school in that area back in 2001. I live in Virginia and would someday love to move back to that part of CT.

However, if you%26#39;re after excitement and adventure you might want to reconsider. It%26#39;s not a ';happening'; place: a lot of antique shops and cozy restaurants are the main attraction for those looking to escape the hectic life of NYC. If you want to get away from it all and spend some quality time with your significant other then you can%26#39;t beat it.

If you get bored, there are larger cities nearby such as Danbury.

Milford is a great town. There is so much to do year round. There is a bed and breakfast right downtown within walking distance to the most historic area as well as great shops/boutiques and restaurants.

You should consider Mystic. It%26#39;s a charming town with fun restaurants and shops, and also the home of the Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport.( for history). You can visit Stonington Vineyards, gamble at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun and maybe even catch a show at one of the casinos. Visit Harkness Memorial- beautiful private estate now open as a museum ( in Waterford) and enjoy the newly renovated Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme and have a romantic dinner at either the Bee and thistle or old Lyme Inn.

New Haven is one of New England%26#39;s best cities that has come so far because of Yale University. Downtown New Haven has evolved over the years and is now home to hundreds of restaurants, cafes, shops, clubs, bookstores, theaters and museums. During the school year there are thousands of Yale students walking the streets of the city and this activity in recent years has drawn in developers who have now brought new condos, lofts and apartments downtown and added yet more vibrancy downtown.

New Haven definitly has the charm of a New England city. New Haven is home to the Peabody Museum of Natural History, Yale Center for British Art, Yale Repertory Theater, Yale Center for British Art, CT Childrens Museum, Pardee Morris House, East Rock and West Rock Parks and the famous New Haven Green.

New Haven is also located at the intersection of I-91 and I-95 so if you want to see other places you can simply travel right onto the highway

I would definitely lean towards the mystic area - You would be close to the casinos and outlet malls and not too far from RI, so you could do a day trip to Newport if you chose - there are alot of quaint B%26amp;Bs in the area - good restaurants and shops, the Indian Museum, the Aquarium, etc...

Mystic is historic and a wonderful romantic spot for a long weekend. You will not be disappointed! You most likely can even take the train from Maryland if you so desire. This is beautiful country in Ct. I am hoping for a wonderful weekend for you and your beau. It does not come cheap but the memories you will create will be wonderful.

I have decided to go with Mystic for a couple of reasons. I did like the history it seemed to have more attractions that were open during that time of the year. So many places/things close down during after October. That I can completely understand, it just happens that this is the time that I can go. I was able to book the steamboat inn so I am excited about that as well. Both the town and the inn have great reviews so I am sure that I will be adding to them in a matter of months. Thanks again for everyones help, it was much appreciated.
