Looking to do a bachelor party in April/May at one of the casinos. Which one would be better in terms of more tables available to play? Also what are the chances of getting a $5 blacjack table on a Saturday night? We are hoping that we could get groups of us playing together at the same tables, as opposed to garbbing empty chairs here and there
Bachelor Party
On a Saturday night you%26#39;ll be able to find $5 tables (I%26#39;m assuming you mean blackjack?) at both casinos, but you%26#39;ll have to hunt for them and there is absolutely no way that you%26#39;ll be able to get your group all on the same table.
If you%26#39;re talking about playing craps, the minimum on a Saturday will be $15 (possibly $10 if you get there early enough) and you%26#39;d be able to take over a table pretty easily.
Keep in mind that Saturday is the busiest night at the casinos, so table minimums are at their highest. Foxwoods probably has a better atmosphere for a bachelor party and more room for your group. Mohegan has better dining and clubbing options.
I know there are casinos in Las Vegas that allow you to reserve a BJ table for playing, but I believe the minimum bet is $25 per hand. You could call either Foxwoods or Mohegan and see if they would do the same thing, but on a Saturday night I would expect them to have a high minimum.
Good luck.
Bachelor Party
Thanks for the advice. We are also thinking of trying a Sunday or Thursday night. Do you think one of these day would be better than the other? Also how busy do you think it will be on the Sunday night of Memorial Day?
FYI- there will be between 20-30 of us total
Regular Sunday nights aren%26#39;t too bad, but the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend will be packed. The Sunday before a Monday holiday is always very busy at both casinos.
A Thursday night might be better, but neither place is ever particularly empty, know what I mean?
If there are 25-30 of you, you%26#39;d need 5 blackjack tables to all play together. 10-12 can fit on one craps table. You%26#39;d have a very difficult time trying to accomodate everyone in the same section of the casino at the same time, especially as low rollers.
I honestly think your best bet would be to call casino marketing at each place and tell them what you%26#39;re thinking of doing. They%26#39;ll be able to give you an idea of the logistics and what your options are. Plus, with that many people, they%26#39;ll likely give you a good price on a block of rooms at either hotel.
Keep me posted and let me know what happens. Good luck!
I%26#39;m not really looking for multiple tables, I am more just hoping that the people going will be able to play together in groups, as opposed to 1-2 people here and there.
Thanks for the tip about calling the casino, I wouldn%26#39;t have even bothered calling for anything under 10 rooms for a discount
Thursday would probably be best because the rates are usually better. Are you a players club member at Mohegan? If not, you might want to take a swing by and become a member. It may influence your rates and make your trip a little more affordable. I personally prefer Mohegan because the atmosphere is more positive and cleaner. For clubs there%26#39;s Ultra 88, Lucky%26#39;s, %26amp; the Dubliner. There%26#39;s also great free entertainment in the Wolf Den, and maybe a show you%26#39;d be interested in the arena. I definetely agree to call the casino for your specific requests about gaming.
1.888.226.7711 for general information (they can direct your call) and/or 1.877.204.7100 for Hotel Sales who should be able to help you with 10+ rooms. Good luck to you and congrats on the wedding.
I was just at Mohegan last Thursday night and it was as dead as it ever gets. I strongly recommend visiting on a weeknight - the table minimums are lower and you can probably all play together at the tables. When i went, the craps tables were $10 and the blackjack tables $15. Foxwoods would be similar. On a weekend, forget anything lower than $15. Sadly, the days of $5 blackjack in the evening are long gone at either casino.
If you are not staying overnight, I recommend Mohegan which has more table games other than poker. If you want to play poker, or plan to get a hotel room or rooms, go with Foxwoods.
