I will be flying in to Newark, and need to get to Milford. Can anyone suggest the easiest/best value way of doing so? Many thanks

Well, the easiest way would be to hire a private car. Unfortunately that will also be the most expensive option, costing somewhere around $200+ including tax, tolls, parking and tips. If you are travelling with a group of people, then it obviously makes more sense financially. I usually go this route if I am travelling with 2 or more.
You could also rent a car and drive it yourself (2+ hours depending on traffic), but you may not want to do that after a long flight.
If you do not have a lot of luggage, you could take the Bus into NYC and then the train from Grand Central Station to Milford. This would likely be the least expensive way to go costing about $30 per person, depending on the type of tickets you purchase. A bit of a pain with a lot of bags however.
Some of the other options (shared ride, Amtrak) are found on the Port Authority Website:

Hope this helps.

You can do it all on trains. From the Newark airtrain, you can get to Newark Penn Station, and take an NJ Transit train to NYC Penn Station. From there, take the S subway to Grand Central, and from there catch a Metro North New Haven line train to Milford. Also, in NYC, a cab from Penn Station to GCT should only be about $6. You should be able to get info on all of this from mta.info.
