The cruise ship I%26#39;m on will be in New London on the 4th of July. Will anything special be happening? A parade, maybe? The ship will probably be gone, unfortunately, by the time any fireworks start....
Independence Day in New London
There are always events going on at that time - Here is one that is annual: http://wedeclare.org/
The festival is informal and centered around a performance of the Declaration of Independence by members and friends of the downtown New London, Connecticut community...but it is much more. It is an expression of independence, both collective and personal and it lives in the expressions of common men, women and children speaking, signing and doing the things that gives flavor and value to the ';ideas'; and ';ideals'; of the Declaration of Independence.
New London Declarations is part history, theatre and circus and each year, while there is a script for the festival that changes every year, we are never quite sure just what is going to happen. Last year Sally Hemings had an interesting and powerfully presented chat with Thomas Jefferson. This year, King George will be joined by is wife, Queen Charlotte and Thomas Paine will also have a few things to say about common and uncommon sense.
Independence is first and foremost, unconfined and that is what New London Declarations is all about: an unconfined expression of independence.

Thank you! All your information is appreciated!
Hi.
Actually yes...they are planning on 1st and foremost a reading of the declaration of ind. in historic garb at the Hygienic Arts Park at around 11am. Fife %26amp; drum music will be played and I believe horse %26amp; carriage rides to attractions downtown.
Nathan Hale Schoolhouse and Shaw Mansion will be open and walk over to Green and Golden Street where Eugene Oneills favorite watering hole (Dutch%26#39;s Tavern), Muse at 102 Golden Street and some nicely restored 1800 homes are found.
