Relaxing on CT coast

My husband and I will be travelling to CT in August for the Litchfield Jazz Festival, staying with old friends. After that we%26#39;d like to spend some time on the coast. What location is best for two 60-somethings with zero interest in casinos? We%26#39;d like a distinctive setting where we can relax and poke around a bit for a couple days.

Inn at Mystic, in Mystic

I have only used the spa here.It was excellent. http://www.bytheseainnspa.com/the_inn.html But they do have guest rooms. The name says By The Sea, but it%26#39;s not really. It is however, a few blocks from Branford Center, which has small shops to explore and quite a few good restaurants.

Any of these would be within an a half to an hour drive of most attractions and shopping in the area.

I work in the town of Clinton, it has quite a few antique stores. 20 minutes from Branford, 5 from Westbrook, 40 from Mystic.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I especially like Talcott House. Reminds me of a vacation in Narragansett seven summers ago.
