CT Beaches

Thinking of a family trip to CT this summer, was wondering what coastline area is good for beaches? family oriented but don%26#39;t need a lot of stuff. mostly a nice clean beach to kick back and relax.

4 total, wife and daughters 10 and 12, also which towns would be nice to stay in either along the coast or inland... we could day trip to the coast.

We did MA, NH and VT a few yrs ago would like to try out CT and maybe RI, also how about hiking???

Thanks...

CT Beaches

I would recommend RI beaches over CT beaches. I%26#39;m partial as I grew up in RI but RI beaches are acutally on the ocean while most CT beaches are on the LI sound which makes for not as much surf.

I would recommend time in narragansett or newport. Try posting or searching in the RI forum and see what suggestions you get. Narragansett is very close to CT but is much more of a summer beach location.

CT Beaches

Thanks, Iw as gonna try and keep the trip all CT if possible but i have heard the beaches in RI are nicer, but I am assuming that the areas to stay around there are more money too.

East of New Haven for CT beaches. There are nice state park beaches in Niantic and Madison. There will be less surf on CT beaches, as we are protected somewhat by Long Island. Water%26#39;s Edge Resort in Westbrook has beach and pool swimming, indoor and outdoor pools, activities for kids.

We rent a cottage in a private community between Mystic %26amp; Stonington.

There are 2 small, quiet private beaches, a huge ballfield w/horsheshoes, playscape, basketball, etc. You can rent kayaks %26amp; explore the coves or Mystic River; quick drive to Stonington or R.I. Beaches if you wanted something different or walk around the quaint towns; only a couple miles to the Aquarium, Seaport, downtown Mystic; quick trip to outdoor restaurants where you sit outside and along the Mystic River to watch the boats; 15 min ride to the Casinos - we take our niece %26amp; nephew there for the buffet %26amp; they like to look in all the stores.

There are a lot of things to do or just relax in your own place! I think that%26#39;s the way to go for a family vacation!!

I agree with the other post- RI beaches are much better for a vacation (and I say this as a CT native). RI beaches are much prettier, the sand is better, and the waves are decent- not too big or dangerous but just right for the kids to play/boogie board in. CT beaches have no waves and not much activities to do on the beach. And the cottages around the RI beaches are nice. Some nice RI beaches to consider are Watch Hill, Narragansett, Newport, and Misquamicut. If you do go to RI, I would strongly suggest going to Block Island! You and your family will love it there- such a lovely area.

I live in CT and I like to hike....heres a website I think you might find helpful about CT trails.

Check out The Wharf Hotel in Madison. right on a private beach, nice little town.

What%26#39;s the beach at Westbrook like? We%26#39;ll be staying at an oceanfront B%26amp;B there.

RI beaches are way better! And I%26#39;m from CT too.
