Luxury Getaway from NYC

My wife and I are looking for some short getaways trips from NYC. We prefer something with 2-3 hours of driving, must be 5-star. Can be a resort, spa, inn, or just plain hotel.

We last tried the mayflower inn in washington, ct.

Please help us with suggestions!

Thank you.

Luxury Getaway from NYC

Haven%26#39;t stayed here, but it was highly recommended by friends: The Waters Edge: http://www.watersedge-resort.com. Have you considered the Foxwood Casino?

Luxury Getaway from NYC

I would post in the RI forum too, you can get to newport in around 3 hours.

Water%26#39;s Edge is beautiful, and close to the casinos and outlets -

I just returned from a conference at Tarrytown House in Tarrytown, NY - Beautiful building and views of the Hudson, incredible food - definitely 5 star!

citychicky--3 hours from NYC?? to Newport??

Sure! If not three, then not that much longer than three.

I agree Newport is a great get away, but it takes me just under 3 hours from lower Fairfield County. You must time your time on 95 better than I!

You can get NYC to Newport in just around 3 hrs, if there%26#39;s no traffic issues. AND...it%26#39;s worth it!

Water%26#39;s Edge in Westbrook, CT is pretty nice, but I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s a 5 star resort.

If you go up to Newport...

First Choice would be to stay at The Chanler

Second Choice-

OR If you want to be right in the center-

In NY state there is The Point...super exclusive and super expensive- definately 5 stars.

Without Traffic NYC to Newport is more than 3hrs. With traffic... forgeddabaudit... :-)

5 Star... this would take you to Water%26#39;s Edge in Westbrook as so many others have mentioned. Just below 5 star I would recommend the Bee %26amp; Thistle in Old Lyme or the property across the street at Old Lyme Inn. Both have excellent restaurants as well.

In Old Saybrook there is the Saybrook Point Spa %26amp; Inn. With views of the LI Sound and CONN River, a full spa that is very well maintained and a great restaurant called ';Terra Mar'; I would suggest that as well for a little romantic R%26amp;R. I believe their website is www.saybrook.com or you can check on my travel blog at www.thenewenglandcoast.com

I would also suggest a day trip for lunch to Brie and Bleu in New London or Essex for some fun at the ';Gris';.

Fantastic!http://www.tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i676-Essex_Afternoon.html

Does the Water%26#39;s edge have pool(s)? How far from the casinos is it? Dod you know if the offer car service or a shuttle?

According to their website they do have a pool. See: http://www.watersedge-resort.com. The casinos are listed as nearby attractions, but there is no mention of shuttle. I would call or email them!
