day trip to Mystic

Hi going to foxwood for 2 days and then on to a wedding at West Point. Will have entire sunday to go somewhere, we will have a rental car. Tell me is a day trip to Mystic worth our time, How far from West Point. Can we spend a good 5 hours walking around and enjoy the sites and stores?

any info would be helpful.

I LOVE historic restorations like Mystic, so I could easily spend 5 hours there. (I have, many times.) Figuring you will have lunch during that time (there is a good restaurant there, plus food stands), I think most people would not find 5 hours a stretch. There are restored houses and shops; several restored ships; souvenir shops.

I have never been to the aquarium in Mystic, but hear it is great. And driving around the area it is easy to find a few areas with old houses and down towns that are relatively untouched by development.

West Point is about 3 hours (I%26#39;m a slow driver.)
