Help with New England States tRIP

I have always wanted to visit the New England states. (You can give the tv show Murder She Wrote the credit.)

When I was younger my grandmother always watched that show, and I fell in love with the what was to look like a small fishing type town somewhere around Maine/Connecticut.

Any advise as to the best places to visit?

My husband and I are taking a late 14th Wedding Anniversary/Birthday Trip the first part of October. I would greatly appreciate any input.

The show was supposed to take place in Maine, though the exterior shots were shot in Califonia.

Thank you. I found that out recently. It is a little disappointing to find out my dream town isn%26#39;t really what I thought.

We have been to San Francisco and loved the Warf area. It is so different from where we live in SC.

Maybe we will just go back there instead. Thanks again.

Maine does have a lot of nice, quaint coastal towns. Much smaller than SF. It%26#39;s worth going to, see if there are any cheap flights to Portland (that%26#39;s the biggest city).

I%26#39;d recommend taking a look at one of the well known, solid New England tourism sites if you%26#39;re really interested in visiting here in the fall. Try out either YankeeMagazine.com or VisitNewEngland.com -- I think you%26#39;ll find lots to see and do. If you%26#39;re just coming for a long weekend then consider something like the York/Wells/Kennebunkport area of Maine or the Northshore area of Mass. or Cape Cod or Mystic, Connecticut or Stowe, Vermont. If you have a week or two then consider making a loop, maybe flying into somewhere like Providence or Hartford which are easy airports to get in and out of. Having lived in the SF Bay Area for almost 20 years I can assure you that although SF is a great city ... it%26#39;s nothing like New England.

Thank you for your help and advise. I%26#39;m really excited to visit.

Everything you need is at this website, ...everything !

Gloucester, Massachusetts is beautiful. You could visit there (after watching The Perfect Storm) then take a side trip to Boston. Another fun side trip from Gloucester is Salem, Massachusetts home of the infamous witch trials.

Check out Newport, RI.. gorgeous.. on the water, lots of ships, great shopping, beaches in Newport are decent.. Beaches in Naragansett, right over the bridge, about 20 min frmo Newport, are fantastic.

Mansions, cliff walk, lots to do in Newport. Very new englandy.

Lots of cute Bed and Breakfasts to stay at.

Thank you everyone for your advise. I%26#39;m really ready to go now. I hope we can manage to keep all of our employees from wanting to take time off, so that we can. You know how it is --- your employees always seem to come first - kinda like children. Anyway thank you again.
