Hartford Breakfast dines

My wife and I will be coming to Hartford the first week in August for a convention.

We will be staying at the Crowne Plaza at 50 Morgan Street.

Whenever we travel we like to visit local diners for an early breakfast to see how the locals really eat.

Can anyone give me an idea if there is anyplace to have an early breakfast between the Crowne Plaza and the convention center?

Thanks

Unfortunately there aren%26#39;t any diners in downtown Hartford. If you have a car, the closest diner is off exit 44 (Prospect/Oakwood Avenue) right off 84 West. It is called Gold Roc Diner located at

61 Kane Street, West Hartford, CT 06119 and the number is (860) 236-9366. It is open 24 hrs. It is right off the exit on your left side. CANNOT miss it! :) Hope your visit to CT is a pleasant one.

Thanks for the info. I guess we won%26#39;t bother looking. We like to go to breakfast as a part of an early walk.

I also nothiced that there is some sort of cruise that you can take that includes lunch or dinner. Is that worth the trip? Anything to see along the river?

I personally haven%26#39;t done it but some friends of mine and co-workers have had lunch there and they LOVED it! Here is all the contact info that you need for The Lady Katharine Cruise:

Ok there arent diners in downtown Hartford BUT if head on over to the West End to Mo%26#39;s Midtown at 25 Whitney Street (just off Farmington Avenue) you can experience the areas consistantly top rated breakfast place.

This is a small little restaurant that has been in the city for years and when you head over for breakfast youll see many locals (meaning from the city) as well as many suburbanites who make the trek all the way to the west end for a great breakfast! Roadfood.com has a writeup with reviews of the restaurant plus some mouthwatering pics of the food!! www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx…

Downtown there is a place called JoJo%26#39;s on Pratt Street near Main Street (about a 3 minute walk from the Crown Plaza) that is a coffee/tea house that also makes great breakfast sandwiches and pastries as well as serves up teas and coffees from around the world. The owner is a nice lady who is always there and you can catch up with new downtown residents having breakfast out, someone on their way home from services or someone catching some coffee on their way to work.

Thanks for the two ideas.

I think we%26#39;ll try out both of them. Jo-Jo-%26#39;s sounds like it would work for the early morning walk and breakfast thing and Mo%26#39;s sounds like it is a must do for us.

I%26#39;m looking forward to it.

By the way, does anyone klnow if the Crowne Plaza pool is open yet?

I keep calling to see and they keep saying that there won%26#39;t be any problem. But no one says that it is ';done';.

Thanks again for the info.

No problem and enjoy your visit to Hartford!!

Sadly I do not know if the pool at the Crowne Plaza is open or not. I do know that a little while ago the hotels owners announced that a major renovation would be taking place at the hotel so that it could remain competitive with the rest of the hotels downtown (all of which are new or newly renovated). I assume the pool renovation is a part of this and as temperatures continue to top 90 in the city this week I hope its open!!!
