I am going to a conference in the convention center in October and need a place to stay for one night that is close by. The Marriott seems very expensive, though I haven%26#39;t tried calling yet to try to get a lower rate. Are there any other options? Is Priceline an option in Hartford, and if so, how do you suggest I bid?
Thanks!

I%26#39;ve heard that Priceline has worked well in downtown Hartford but I have no personal experience. If you need to be within walking distance the following are within a 10-15 min. walk of the Convention Center: Residence Inn by Marriott, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn Express Downtown in Hartford and Sheraton in East Hartford. There is a free shuttle around downtown Hartford too. If you can do a 5 minute drive consider Super Eight, Red Roof Inn, or Days Inn in Hartford, Holiday Inn or Wellesley Inn in East Hartford. You might also want to check Hilton Gardens in Glastonbury a 10 minute drive but in a nice suburb with shops and restaurants within walking distance. I might be tempted to try one of the East Hartford Hotels. You can drive past the Sheraton In East Hartford, park for free near the highway overpass and walk up the stairs to a pedestrian walkway over the Connecticut River that takes you to downtown near the Convention Center.

I personally would recomond trying out the Holiday Inn Express Downtown at 440 Asylum Street. The hotel was just renovated in 2005 and features 96 rooms on 9 floors. There is also a fitness center and complimentary breakfast. The hotel is located at the corner of Asylum Street and Union Place and faces Bushnell Park and is right next to Union Place. The hotel is also located right by the entrance and exit ramp to I-84. Walk right outside the hotel and grab some great food at Hot Tomatos which is right next door, take a walk in the park and within 5 minutes be at the convention center.
