Connecticut - Stay anywhere - Do Anything

I%26#39;m flying, with my parents, to Connecticut for a wedding Oct. 24-31.

We plan on renting a car, but we don%26#39;t know where to stay or what to see. There are too many options!

We can go anywhere in the state, but we have to be in Hartford on Sat. Oct.27th for the wedding.

If possible, we would like to see some fall foliage. We like going to farmer%26#39;s markets. Any ideas on cottage rentals or places with kitchens? We also like hiking and gardens.

Any ideas? Thank you.

For foliage a trip to the northwest hills or the northeast corner are usually in order. There is no huge farmers market that I know off but there are a number of small one around the state. www.ct.gov/doag/cwp/view.asp?a=1368%26q=259134

Cottage rentals should be available at the Connecticut shore. Try searching in Old Lyme. Its an hour to Hartford, pretty close to the casinos, you can check out southeastern Ct sights like Mystic and Essex. If you want to be nearer Hartford try Homewood Suites in Farmington. Theres plenty of hiking wherever you end up www.trails.com/toptrails.asp?area=10050

Since you going to be in Hartford check out Elizabeth Park with its famous Rose Garden and other gardens on the Hartford/West Hartford line at the corner of Prospect and Asylum.

Thanks! Those are great ideas - just what we were looking for!
