oh thank you for that -- its nice to have advice on restaurants -- i forgot to ask about shopping -- is there any reasonable shopping in the area -- we have a large group (its a dance competition) consisting of a lot of children so something not too high end or boutique like -- a mall would be great -- would appreciate any advice

There is West Farms Mall West of Hartford off I-84 or Buckland Hills (East on I-84). The shopping in downtown Hartford is limited. Where are you staying? Both malls are about 10 - 15 minutes from downtown.

Thank you for those suggestions -- we are staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Hartford-Cromwell and are travelling by bus -- we usually get the bus to drop us off somewhere so those suggestions for the shopping should be great --
