OK, I%26#39;m in a bit of a predictament... and I%26#39;m almost embarassed to ask, but here goes.
My husband and I will be flying out to CT the third week of Feb. with the sole purpose of buying a house. We%26#39;ll be taking a red eye flight, which gets in at 6:00 AM. Our B%26amp;B won%26#39;t let us in until 3:00PM... as there is already someone occupying the room. I%26#39;d really like to be able to snooze a few hours and freshen up before meeting with realtors, and trapesing through people%26#39;s homes.
(*Blushing*) Does anyone know of a hotel that charges by the hour?
LOL I just had to laugh myself! :)
It MUST be CLEAN (in so many ways!) I don%26#39;t want to run into any ';ladies of the night,'; so please keep us out of those neighborhoods. Which, here in CA, those are the only neighborhoods that offer rooms by the hour... I%26#39;m suspecting CT would be the same.
I just figured it wouldn%26#39;t hurt to ask! Thanks!
This is soooo tacky, but...
OH! And BTW, we%26#39;ll be heading down to the Middlesex and New London county areas. So, Hartford, down the 95, and anywhere in those two counties would be great. Sorry for the tall order! Thanks again!
This is soooo tacky, but...Hi! I don%26#39;t have any specific suggestions for you, but I%26#39;ve included a few hotels that are right along I-91, which is what you%26#39;ll drive if you%26#39;re coming in from Bradley Airport.
Hartford- Crowne Plaza, Cromwell
Courtyard Inn, Cromwell
Marriott, Rocky Hill
Inn at Middletown, Main Street, Middletown, Off Rt. 9
You might also try contacting the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce. They%26#39;re very friendly and might have suggestions for you, such as smaller B%26amp;Bs used by parents of Wesleyan students.
Good luck on your visit to CT. I%26#39;ve lived here all my life. Winter is long, especially if you%26#39;re not used to it. But it%26#39;s beautiful and you can take off for Boston or NYC on a Saturday morning if you like, or spend a weekend (even a long day) skiing in Vermont. Middlesex and New London counties are beautiful - have fun! And don%26#39;t let anyone tell you to stay at the Grantmoor on the Berlin Turnpike.
better off just paying the fulll night rate some place like motel 6
Thanks to both of you for your responses! I%26#39;m thinking that perhaps the best thing to do IS to just pay for a night somewhere and sleep once we get there in the morning. Chalk it up to moving expenses... Thanks again!
why not stay in a hotel that would be more likely to have a room available for you at that hour of the morning, without having to pay extra?
Cabogirl!!! I NEVER thought I%26#39;d see you on the Connecticut forum!
How are you? Been to Cabo lately? We were there in Sept. last year... I posted pictures on the Cabo forum... check %26#39;em out! tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g152515-i84-k95723鈥?/a>
Anyway... yeah I did some calling around and we found that the Bradley airport actually has a Sheraton Hotel inside. I gave them a call and they quoted me $105.00 for a ';Daybreak Special.'; A whopping 5-6 hours. BUT, that%26#39;s all we really need. :) So, we might just do that.
Fairfield Inn wasn%26#39;t bad either ($85.00), and it%26#39;s close by.
I%26#39;ll tell you, Days Inn won%26#39;t get our business... downright rude. I was hung up on twice. I%26#39;m wondering if the gal working the front counter had no idea what I was requesting... oh well. lol
Thanks for the suggestion! ~ Pamela
I used to live in CT (and wish I was still there!) When we travel to CT we stay at the Residence Inn in E.Windsor/Windsor Locks. We love it because it is like having a little condo! They have a studio rm which when last we were there was $99 a night. We had a kichen that they would have bought whatever groceries we requested (for cost nothing added for the service) They have a great breakfast included in the price of the room though. Hot foods as well as cold cereal, and the ordinary continental items. I would suggest looking into it. Even if you are there to snooze a little, shower and have a great breakfast-- i look for Residence Inn wherever I go!!!
Good luck witht he accomodations, happy house hunting -- and enjoy CT!!
Hi Tigerlilie,
Well, I live in CT, so I stop in here every once in a while!!
I was in Cabo last March - had a great time! will hopefully make it back some day.. It was a trip with 3 girlfriends and we had so much fun.
This year%26#39;s trip is to Belize with the bf... can%26#39;t wait!!
Enjoy your trip to CT!! What areas are you looking at moving to?
Belize is beautiful! I enjoyed it, I%26#39;m sure you will too! Do you dive? If not, get certified, and you can brag about diving the Blue Hole! It%26#39;s a big deal to us divers...
We are flying out tomorrow for CT on a redeye. We are looking at the New London County area, but a few in Middlesex as well. I%26#39;ve noticed that we REALLLLLLY like the homes in the Groton, Ledyard and Montville areas. There are also a few in Stonington, Mystic, New London and Waterford. I think we%26#39;ll stay away from New London though, because the taxes are aweful! :(
In Middlesex County, we are looking at Madison, East Lyme, Deep River, and Essex for the most part.
When we get back later next week, we hopefully will have bought a home! Wish us luck!!!
