Hi, realistically how long is the drive from Yale to Newark airport? I%26#39;ll be dropping off a rental car before heading into Manhattan
drive from yale to newark
Because of endless road repairs I wouldn%26#39;t allow less than 4-5 hours. Security is very slow at Newark and the airport and parking areas are always packed. This will be a tough summer to fly anywhere.
New Haven is fun in the summer. Be sure to go down to LongWharf and enjoy the cool breezes on the shore. And while you still have the car explore the shoreline Audubon Center in Milford and Hammonasset Beach. They are lovley.
I have already removed a Lyme infected deer tick and am on antibiotics so by all means enjoy the outdoors but always check for tick bites. That%26#39;s just life on the East Coast in summer. Nancy

are you serious...mapquest says around 1 hr 53 nin about 94 miles....this may make me change plans
its not a 4-5 hour drive. You could easilly make it there under 2 hours but it depends what time of day you are going noting the traffic. I%26#39;d leave at least a 2 1/2 hour window for your drive. Prior to a holiday, maybe it would be a 4 hour drive.
we were going to leave Sat. morning first thing from Princeton, drive to Yale, tour the college at 130 for an hour, then drive back to Newark airport, drop car, then train into NYC....maybe too ambitous for one day, and this is the weekend before the 4th so maybe lots of traffic, right?
I think you should be OK on that Saturday at that time to expect a drive from Yale to Newark just over 2 hours. Most people would be heading north as your heading south as they head to the areas in Cape Cod. But yes, that is quite the ambitious trip! Are you touring Yale on your own? Don%26#39;t expect New Haven to be anything like it normally is on a Saturday with the holiday prior. Most people will be away so the city should be very quiet especially Yale.
thanks ctgurl, my son and I coming alone, I think we will make Yale another time, possibly taking the train from Grand Central, then I have another excuse to make it back to NYC..plus, I would like to see the campus when it is active with students...thanks for your advice and have a great 4th!!
