Visiting Mystic from the UK

Would like to to visit mystic and its sites any idea%26#39;s and stopping over night, I would also like to see some of the typical pretty villages is there any left I would love to spend a day driving around beautiful countryside and villages where are they can anybody help.

Jen, Nice villages nearby would be Old Stonington and Noank. A little farther out but very worthwhile would be Essex and Old Lyme...old homes, museums, waterfront locations. Gillette Castle is nice but nothing like your castles! Good seafood of course! Newport, Rhode Island is l l/2 hrs away but a great place to visit also. (I will be away for a week but if you have further questions I can help you later)
