Hi, thanks... yes, I have read through that link. I was hoping that there was a service that did day trips for people wanting to go into Newport or other areas around there. If not, it sure may be a great opportunity for someone to start a private tour company... all you need is a nice car... and a little knowledge of the area... in other cities where the cruise ships port, we all pay good money to have our own driver for the day. Now that New London has woo%26#39;ed these cruise ships, they should do something about getting all the people around.

The Inn at Mystic has a package deal which includes a tour to the Newport Mansions. You could give them a call and see who they use.

Also, Amtrack goes from New London to Mystic. There is no direct stop at Newport, but I looked on the web site and under the W. Kingstown terminal, 17 miles away from newport, and they say there is van and car service (this may just mean taxi), but they list a number for information.

It seems the only easy transportation that they have from New London is getting to the Casinos :)
