Considering a job transfer to Litchfield. Torrington close and a little cheaper housing--how is crime/housing costs and taxes? What is there to do there? How about the school systems?
Have not started our family but considering.

curious --considering a move to TorringtonTorrington is an old mill city, right in the middle of the Litchfield Hills. In the past few years they have made a great effort to improve the downtown area. It now has many new restaurants and cafes and a great old renovated theater (Warner Theater) that brings in many popular plays and music of all types. There are some depressed living areas, but in contrast some great older neighborhoods and newer developments on the outskirts that make this not too bad of a place to live. Also you are close to alot of great outdoor activities, state parks, lakes, etc.
I%26#39;ve lived here in Torrington for 19yrs never feeling unsafe the South END is not so hot, But the rest is just fine. Great places state parks etc. plus cheap and good housing for CT.Schools are good, especially Torringford and East school. Taxes so so..
