Can someone tell me the difference between Mystic %26amp; Old Mystic? Also, is either by a beach? I am looking for a 2 night get away with a friend mid week possibly in a B%26amp;B for 2 40 something (married) women. Any ideas???

Mystic is the %26#39;working museum%26#39; town you pay an admission to see, Old Mystic is the town. We%26#39;ve never visited a beach when we go so I don%26#39;t know how far it is.

We have stayed at the Marriott in Groton. Loved the location half way between Mystic and the casinos (nice for a girls get away, if I remember they even ran a shuttle from the hotel) We%26#39;ve also stayed in Mystic at the Hilton. Nice weekend trip! Have fun!

Old Mystic is about 5 miles north of mystic. The museums, aquarium attractions are in mystic. The confusion maybe that in mystic there is a quaint shopping complex called ';old mystic Village';. Mystic town is on the mouth of mystic river where it meets the Long Island sound. Nearby beaches are Esker Beach on road to Groton Long Point, which is free, but small and ';natural'; other Beach is Eastern Point in City of Groton entrance fee per car $20 weekends $15-18 weekdays. This beach is at junction of Thames and the sound. Going east I%26#39;m not as familar with the beaches. Beaches in this area are clam water, for the most part. When you get out of the sound- in RI such as Watch Hill and Misqumicut than you have more waves.

Go to Newport, RI for your girls getaway. Lots of great B%26amp;Bs, beaches, mansions, fantastic restaurants, plus shopping. Everything a girl could want! Enjoy! :)
