Info on Dinosaur crossing

My family is headed up to Mystic for 2 1/2 days before we go on to spend 4 days in Boston. When looking at some things to do I came across Dinosaur Crossings. Can anyone tell me if it is worth spending 3 or 4 hours there with our 9, 5(dinsaur lover), and 3 year old children? How far is it from Mystic? Is a half day enough time, too much? Also any other places we should consider besides the aquarium, seaport, submarine? Thanks for your help:)

for dinosaur lovers I would recomend Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill real dinosaur tracks exbits chance to make plaster casts of foot prints ( bring 10 pounds of plaster, rags, and cooking oil)

Info on Dinosaur crossing

Not having children, I have never been to Dinosaur Crossings, though I do pass it on my way to work everyday. It is about 25 mins. from Mystic.

Another activity suggestion would be the Lighthouse Museum in the Stonington Borough. It is towards the very end of the main street (Water Street) in the Borough. The museum is small, but quite interesting: it has whaling paraphernalia and other sea-fearing instruments, and one can climb to the top of the light-tower for a great view. You could walk around the lovely downtown which has some nice shops (AK Dasher%26#39;s for inexpensive jewlry!) and great colonial-era homes. Lunch could be outside at Skipper%26#39;s Dock, off the main street on the way to the Lighthouse. Admission to the museum also gives admission to the Nathaniel Palmer House, the discoverer of Antarctica. It is a large nineteenth century home, also in Stonington.

Another idea is the carousel in Watch Hill, RI, however parking is difficult in Watch Hill. Lunch could be at Hitching Post, on Route 1 in Charlestown, RI - we believe it has the best fried seafood in the area (though I don%26#39;t love the chowder). We drive the 1/2 hour or so from Mystic for its fried seafood. Better than the 2 seafood shacks in Mystic.

Last year I took my niece %26amp; nephew there (8 %26amp; 10) - they had a blast %26amp; we didn%26#39;t even go to the waterpark, playground or on the walking trails. They loved digging for gems, looking through the shops %26amp; the museum. I%26#39;ll bet you spend all day there, no problem!

Thank you for all of the suggestions and info. I almost feel like we could spend a week in the Mystic area and we were worried the 2 days would be too much. I think we will check out Dinosaur Crossings at least for 1/2 of a day because my five year old has seen the website and can%26#39;t stop talking about it. Now we just have to narrow down our other activities:)
