What's up with Sterling, CT.?

I see many different new homes going up in Sterling. Can anybody shed some light on the area?

Does anyone have any websites for the companies of the home builders?

What's up with Sterling, CT.?

It%26#39;s the fastest growing town in CT. I used to live there, and one of the reason why there is so much house construction is that town does not have zoning regulations. Therefore it%26#39;s much easier to find a good lot and get construction started.

Hi, Tigerlilie:

I think I remember your ';moniker.'; Didn%26#39;t you post aobut a year ago when you were going to visit New England in March? Did you move here?

Anyway, I used to live in Sterling, too. Yes, the lack of zoning makes building easier, but it created a nightmare for us. We had renovated a house only to have an illegal dump put in next to us a month before we planned to sell. The town did nothing and we ended up selling for a loss to someone who also put in a junkyard. Bad experience.

Sterling is a real mixed bag. Parts are lovely and rural, other parts are filled with old broken down trailers. Buyer beware.

I don%26#39;t know if it is still the case, but Sterling had one of the lowest property tax rates when we lived there, which was great. We not live closer to the coast and pay accordingly.

Good luck. Sorry -- no builders to recommend...

Thanks to both of you for your replies!

Gypsy: Yep... we bought a house!!! See my new post for the details! :)~
