Spending a few days in Connecticut.

Thanks for replies concerning taking the train to NYC. I will certainly take your advice. During our stay in Stamford we would also like to see Connecticut. We are interested in possibly doing some day trips up the coast. Any suggestions of places to see would be greatly appreciated.

Drive up 95 - You can visit Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, there are some quaint towns with antique shops - the Native American Museum, the casinos at Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods - outlet malls in Clinton and Westbrook - it makes a nice day trip.

Make a stop in Stony Creek about 15 min. east of New Haven. Take exit 56 and spend a great hour on a boat tour of the Thimble Islands.

Taking the ferry from Bridgeport across Long Island Sound to the village of Port Jefferson is a nice half day trip.

Thanks for all your ideas. Looking forward to exploring !!

Go to Greenwich Ave in Greenwich (exit 3 off of 95) and do some shopping on Greenwich Avenue. Head up to Litchfield county and visit the wine trail: www.ctwine.com.

Go to Rowayton (exit 12 off 95 North) and rent kayaks from down under kayaking (Google them - they have a website).

Mystic is great but a 2 hour drive.
