What can you tell me about this park. Going to spend a morning and early afternoon here in two weeks. Is there free parking here?

No. $10 weekdays and $14 weekends.
There are no beaches in Fairfield County with free parking as far as I know.

Also keep in mind that the beaches in this part of CT are on Long Island Sound, not the water. If you want the Ocean, you have to drive North up I-95 - A nice place to spend the day is Ocean Beach State Park in New London - Beautiful beach, pool, waterslides, arcade, etc... - it might be more suited to what you seem to be seeking.
