Hi! Could someone please tell me if the area around Eagle/Nicholl streets is a nice/safe neighborhood to stay in while visiting Yale? Is it in a completely residential neighborhood or is it to be avoided? Also, how close is this area to the University? Besides a car, what other options are there to get to Yale from this area?
Thank you very much. If someone could respond as soon as possible, I%26#39;d be very grateful. Thanks again.
Street information needed urgently
I haven%26#39;t been in that area recently, but it is in a decent neighborhood - mainly residential, about 2 miles from the main Yale campus - You would be close to State St., which has restaurants and shops, and can grab a bus there - see schedules here:

Suz, thank you so very much - your response set my mind at ease. Long story - but I had typed in the address of the building on Google, as I was trying to find out on an online map that would show me the distance to Yale from there, as well as the surrounding streets and freeways - and lo and behold, what came up on one of the links on the first page, was the name and picture of a registered s*x offender with the *same* address, displayed on the Connecticut Registry for S*x Offenders ( I think that was the name of the organization but it might have been a bit differently worded)! It stated on the site that the person might not be living at the same address now. But, needless to say, I freaked! However, I did some more research after I posted here, and found out that the area is known as ';Grad Ghetto'; (!) and is full of students, faculty etc who live there. Reassured me on the one hand, but on the other, I still think it%26#39;s scary even though I know that the person may have moved and even though every state in the U.S will have registered offenders living in residential neighborhoods and close to schools and colleges. Shiver.
Thanks again, Suz! Much appreciated :-)
( I tried posting this but because I used the s*x word, I couldn%26#39;t, so I inserted an asterix and hope this goes through on my second attempt).
LOL, it is hard to tell based on what you find on the net! Sometimes it refers you to scary things!
Dining in that area:
Modern Pizza (great pizza) http://www.modernapizza.com
Christopher Martins (live bands, too) http://christophermartins.com/
I used to live sorta near to there - I liked the neighborhood, lots of great little spots
';hard to tell based on what you find on the net! Sometimes it refers you to scary things!';
Yeah, so true! And one has to sift the wheat from the chaff because some links give erroneous information, too!
Thanks for the dining links, Suz! Bless you, my child :-). Thou hast put this imaginative mind at rest!
';as I was trying to find out on an online map that would show me the distance to Yale from there, as well as the surrounding streets and freeways ..'; ???
So now you know just how freaked out I was :-) ;-) Sorry for the garbled words.
