Fishers island?

Can anyone tell me anything about Fishers island? Would this be a good place for a day trip, bike riding, trip to the beach, etc? What is there to do there? Restaurants? Shopping?

I went to a wedding out there. There is very little shopping and only one bar. There aren%26#39;t many places to eat. Biking could be an option. They have a great golf course, though it%26#39;s private. It%26#39;s not an island really geared for tourists, the residents seem to like it that way. Fisher%26#39;s Island is actually part of New York, even though their zip code begins with 06

Its a nice place to live but a very unfriendly place for visitors.

Unfriendly how? Could we go to the beach there? take our bikes?

Fisher%26#39;s is pretty much a private island. The only place to really eat is the Pequot House and it%26#39;s par at best. Most people tend to go there later at night since it%26#39;s New York and it can stay open until 3 or 4am. Not much shopping at all and the beaches are all private I believe so that%26#39;s out of the question.

It%26#39;s pretty much a get away for the wealthy people.

the answers are spot on. Fisher%26#39;s Isl is a VERY exclusive island and doesn%26#39;t have services for visitors. Heck, the residents there would prefer you don%26#39;t go. I would recommend a day trip to Block Isl instead. There is a high speed ferry from New London and BI is very tourist friendly. Biking, Beaches, Bars, the works.
