Historical records of the Correctional Institution

I have just found that my grandfather committed his daughter to the Institution in 1921 and would like furtther information about the case.

Is there any record available as to inmate lists for historical records only? She was first committed to a school for wayward girls near Hartford, was probably 18 years old.

Thanks for any information.

Historical records of the Correctional Institution

Are you talking about bieng convicted of a crime and incarcerated or a mental institution or a hme for wayward girls ?? You might want to try the state library http://www.cslib.org/

Historical records of the Correctional Institution

Grandfather wrote: Florence Gould committed to the Home of the Good Shepard in Hartford as incorrigible, March 8, 1919';,

Then, ';came home May 15, 1921';

Went again a second time} third time.

Oct. 21 1921 took her to Conn. state farm for Women in Niantic.

Discharged from Niantic March 28th 1923, went again April 22...Found May 8, 1923 (as if she had run away)

There are no further records in the family of her whereabouts. She was probably 19 when first committed....born in 1900.

Thanks for any help...

Long Lane school in Middletown CT was once used as a Reform School for Wayward girls and promiscious girls under the age of 18 I think., Till the State Could Marry them off to local men.
