We%26#39;re celebrating an anniversary and would like a weekend getaway, actually anywhere in CT, where we can have a lovely room and excellent dinner (husband is a ';foodie';. Have done some research on the internet and am debating between The Inn at Lafayette in Madison, Interlaken Inn in Lakeville, Taber Inne %26amp; Suites in Mystic. We live on Long Island and just thought CT is close enough to drive to, but has many more charming inns to offer. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Have you considered Mayflower Inn in
Washinton ?

Thanks for prompt response, but I guess I should have been more specific about the price. I called the Mayflower in Washington CT and they were able to offer me 2 suites: one for $1,200 per night and one for $1,400 per night...that%26#39;s $2,400 to $2,800 for two nights, plus tax and meals (breakfast is included). Wow! $200 to $300 would be more in my range.
Try The Whaler%26#39;s Inn in Mystic at the drawbridge. There is an intimate restaurant on site (sorry can%26#39;t recall name) and a super place across the street (I believe it is S%26amp;P Oyster Company). S%26amp;P was very nice with a super river view. I stayed at the Whaler last June and recall the per night being something like $155-170. It%26#39;s a group of several older buildings that are all rehabed. One smaller building had a very special sweet that they showed us. It was on the ground floor but was special. Ask them about it.
Saybrook point inn and spa at www.saybrook.com
Water%26#39;s Edge..think it is in Westbrook...they have a great Sunday brunch....many good restaurants in the area
Whatever you do, avoid the Interlaken Inn in Lakeville. They have the worst customer service I have EVER experienced!!!!!
