Merritt Parkway vs. I-95

I%26#39;m going to be driving through in a couple of weeks. It will be a Saturday Morning and early (around 7am). My route takes me from I-287 in NY to I-91 North in CT. In the past I have taken the Merritt Parkway and loved the drive. Now all the mapping sites say to take I-95. Is there a problem with the Merritt Parkway these days? Lots of construction? Is 95 the better choice?

Thanks.

There isnt a problem on the merritt, I think that the milage might be a little shorter on 95 but given the choice, I ALWAYS go with the merritt, the only time I dont is in bad weather - that road has too much tree coverage and doesnt drain well.

I vote for the merritt.

Merritt is often better but listen to 880AM for traffic reports.

Thanks. I am travelling from PA to ME and over the past years, I have taken 95 to 91 to 84; Merritt Parkway to 91 to 84; and 84 across. I really prefer the early morning drive on Merritt as long as there is no construction to bog down traffic.

dont try on I-95 its acutally longer because theres alot more traffic then the merritt ive seen the differences, before at rush hour i went on the merritt there was not alot of traffic i and i did I-95 at the same hour and TONS of traffic. on the merritt people were moving it least 40 mph but on I-95 it was about 10 mph, follow the merritt to get to I-91 not I-95
