Getting from New York City to Mystic without a car

I would like to visit Mystic in the month of July. It would be 2 adults and 1 7-year old. Mystic sounds like an interesting place. I need help getting from New York City to Mystic.

Can anyone tell me what bus company that would service Mystic from New York City or an airlines that services Mystic.

I called Greyhound Buses and the closest they go to is New London. Can anyone tell me how far New London is from Mystic. Can you get from New London bus terminal to the hotels in Mystic easily, say by cab?
