Need recommendations - nice inn Madison to Old Saybrook area

I am looking for a lovely inn in the pretty coastal area east of New Haven, but not more than an hour or so from New Haven. I checked into Old Saybrook hotels, and see the Saybrook Point Inn %26amp; Spa, which appears to be on the water. That sounds good, but I%26#39;d love to get more ideas. Need not be really romantic, but I%26#39;m not looking for corporate or for seedy or for anything located next to a gas station or shopping center. Something special in a pretty area. Thanks for any ideas.

MaxieLu:

Guilford is a beautiful picturesque town just a little north of New Haven. There is Griswold Cottage B%26amp;B - we never stayed there but always wanted to.

If you don%26#39;t care that you stay on the water, there is a lovely B%26amp;B near the casinos and not far from the RI border - it%26#39;s called Captain Grant%26#39;s 1754, i stayed there maybe three years ago and had a fabulous time.

The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa is very nice. I stayed there a few years ago and I think there are fireplaces in each room. It is pretty elegant, with nice views. I heard Frank Sinatra, in the day, used to hang out at the restuarant there, the Terra Nar,

Saybrook Point Inn and Spa is very nice. The rooms are spacious, the staff friendly, and there is a lot of different things to do. There is a full service spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and a hot tub.

Water%26#39;s Edge in Westbrook is nice... But not as nice as Saybrook Point.

There is the Griswold Inn in Essex. It%26#39;s a historic hotel, has been open since 1776. Good food, nice rooms, easy to get to from I95.

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks, everyone! We%26#39;re booking at the Saybrook Point.
