Has anyone been to the Litchfield Jazz Festival in past years? What can you tell me about your experience? Can anyone recommend a place to stay? litchfieldjazzfest.com/jazzfest_tickets.htm is the site for the 2008 fest. I%26#39;ve looked it over and would definitely consider travelling from Ohio to hear legends like Dave Brubeck and Paquito D’Rivera again as well as Bebe Neuwirth and John Pizzarelli.

I have never been to it, but I live in the area. There are some first rate, elegant and extremely pricey inns in the area such as the Mayflower Inn http://www.mayflowerinn.com/ in Washington Depot and the Boulders Inn in New Preston. There is also the Litchfield Inn, which I believe may be more reasonable in price. In Bantam/Litchfield is La Cupola Inn http://lacupola.tripod.com// I have eaten there, but never stayed there. All of these places I have eaten at or visited, but have not stayed at since I am a local. You may be able to find some smaller family run B%26amp;Bs, with a friendlier price point.
Litchfield Jazz Festival
Wow! Mayflower Inn looks extraordinary...and way, way beyond our budget.
Here are the rates for the Litchfield Inn www.litchfieldinnct.com/rates-spec2.htm
You will probably have to travel 20 minutes or so if you want a chain hotel. You can look in Waterbury, Connecticut, although it is sort of a tired old city. I think I pass by a Hampton Inn on I-84 either in Middlebury or Waterbury.
If you want a chain, try Torrington. It%26#39;s only 15 minutes from the Jazz Fest.
Actually we%26#39;d prefer something different than a chain. We%26#39;ve had some great B%26amp;B experiences in RI, MD, TX, LA, MI and OH. Nothing frilly or decorated with dolls/teddy bears! Or how about a CT inn? Is that possible at $200/night...or do we need to up our budget?
There%26#39;s B %26amp; B%26#39;s all over the place up here. If you%26#39;re looking for a clean motel type place, The Hitching Post Inn in Cornwall bridge is an option. We%26#39;ve stayed there when our power went out a few times! 10 minute drive to the Jazz fest.
There%26#39;s also The Inn at Kent Falls. The Cornwall Inn, The Boulders.... many more.
Since I live here I can%26#39;t help with the prices. But I%26#39;m sure you could Google them and get web sites or phone #s.
And I bet they all raise them for Jazz Fest weekend!
Starbuck Inn Bed and Breakfast in Kent looks like a good possibility. Any comments?
Looks very nice. Right in town, there%26#39;s some lovely shops and a couple of restrurants walking distance.
don%26#39;t know if your interested but camping in this part of the state is very nice and a lot less money than inns. the jazz festival is a nice event
Such good fortune...I%26#39;ve discovered that friends who moved to Southbury almost 20 years ago sometimes go to the Litchfield Jazz Festival, and they%26#39;ve invited us to stay with them, so that we can all go together.
